Shane Victorino

is a right-handed switch hitter and center fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies.  He bats 8th in the line-up in

Tonight’s GAME 2 of the WORLD SERIES Yankees v. Phillies at Yankee Stadium.

Watch it on Fox at 7:30pm/ET.

A track champion with a phenomenal right-arm, Victorino gains respect for his incredible speed and mad throwing skillz.  Even more impressive are his accomplishments despite his relatively small stature at 5’9”.  More on his stats here and here

Victorino was born November 30, 1980 in Wailuku, Hawaii and is classified as “Pacific Islander” on his myspace.

While Wiki tags Victorino under Portuguese- and Japanese- American, and other sites claim he is also of Filipino descent, there are no primary sources confirming this information.  Can anyone point me to anything that can confirm?

In the meantime check out a great piece on Victorino here

David Chang
is the chef/owner of the rave reviewed NYC Momofuku eateries Noodle Bar, Ko and Ssäm Bar, Milk Bar, and Ma Peche in New York City.  Food & Wine touts Chang as having “sparked a craze for bar dining and snagged every award and accolade in the process” further adding that the young chef serves “hearty, inventive Asian-inspired food at great prices”.
The New York Times and New York Magazine food critics agree and patron review sites such as Yelp and Urban Spoon branded Chang’s restaurants with excellent reviews.  Alas with any sought-after restaurant in NYC serving delicious foods at affordable prices, the wait could seem interminable.  Be patient and nimble, says the New York Times, and be forewarned.
You could try making the recommended Ramen and Korean BBQ stuffed pork buns yourself since Chang’s
Momofuku cookbook is being released today, October 27th
Available on Amazon.  Also see him as a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight at 12:30am/ET on NBC.  The highly recommended pork ramen dish from Chang’s Momofuku Noodle Bar  Born Aug 5, 1977 Chang’s descent is not stated anywhere, though Wiki tags his profile  with “Korean-American”.   Chang majored in religious studies at Trinity College and later trained at the French Culinary Institute.  More about Chang on Wiki, an interview with Food & Wine, WSJ review of his cookbook.  See Tags below for related postsKeywords: Korean American chef, Momofuku restaurants, chic noodle bars

Miranda Kerr

As of mid-2007, Kerr is the first Australian to be signed onto a Victoria’s Secret modeling contract.  Australian “Current Affair” show, Today Tonight, reports in the video below that Kerr is of Serbian, Iranian, Turkish, and Filipino descent.

Born in Sydney, Australia on April 20, 1983, Kerr and her family moved to the Brisbane city life from Gunnedah, New South Wales where she rode motorbikes and horses as a child in her grandmother’s farm.  Kerr planned to study nutrition in college before deciding to pursue modeling.

The dimpled beauty has been the face of major cosmetics and fashion campaigns such as Maybelline, Clinique, and Arden B.  Forbes magazine listed Kerr as the 10th top-earning model with $3.5 million in 2008.

Kerr and her boyfriend, actor, Orlando Bloom, of the famed Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings films, practice a Japanese branch of Buddhsim, called Nichirin Buddhism.  More on Miranda Kerr on Wiki.

Camille Chen
guest starring as Emma Kim on NBC’s Law & Order with Jeremy Sisto and Anthony Anderson RIGHT NOW! (Friday, 8pm). She plays a passenger trying to help the police catch a livery cab driver who’s a suspect in a murder.  There’s something suspicious about her character, though…so she’s doing a good job so far…check her out! By the way, no confirmation on her ethnicity, but I’m suspecting she’s Chinese.  IMDB, Wiki

Leah Remini
born June 15, 1970, is an American actress and I suspect part Filipino on her mother’s side.  I’ve been waiting to post this because I thought maybe some interview would emerge in which she would mention that she’s part Filipino.  I could have sworn she mentioned this some time, but it’s not written anywhere (Wiki, MTV, the like), so I’m not waiting any longer.  She’s going to have to be categorized under suspected.
The first time I saw her was in Who’s the Boss and I was so excited to see someone on tv who might be part Asian.  Being Asian wasn’t as widely accepted or publicized in the 80’s-90’s.  As a youngun, I was always on the lookout for people to identify with, and I’m sure I wasn’t even aware that’s what I was doing.  Growing up seeing mostly white people in the media, in a media driven world (I was a child of tv), the world that was naturally going to develop in my eyes was white dominated.  And not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just confusing and misleading, which added more unecessary twists and turns away from myself rather than towards the authentic life I could have been living accepting myself.  But I’m not on a rampage, the media isn’t fully culpable.
Anyhoo…thanks for indulging again.  I’ve a bit to say today.  Perhaps I’ll start another blog.
Remini launched her acting career in 1988, guest starring in various television series, including Head of the Class, Who’s the Boss?, Living Dolls, Paradise and The Hogan Family. She is best known for her role as Carrie Heffernan on the CBS sitcom The King of Queens.

Summer Lyn Glau (born July 24, 1981) is an American dancer and actress, known for playing River Tam in the short-lived science fiction series Firefly and follow-up movie Serenity, and for playing Cameron in the series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Glau was born in San Antonio, Texas.  She is of Scotch-Irish and German descent.
This is another one who hasn’t mentioned any Asian roots…BUT I think she’s GOT to be part Asian.
