Released, December 22nd - Official trailer for SONY Pictures’ the Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith, and Taraji P. Henson; directed by Harald Zwart (The Pink Panther 2). In theaters June 11, 2010.
The write up in FirstShowing.net:
Smith plays Dre, a skateboarding video game buff who moves to China after his single mother is forced to go there for work. Unable to speak Chinese, Dre finds it hard to settle in, and gets beat up by the local bully. Chan plays Mr. Han, a maintenance man who spots his black-eye and offers to teach him both martial arts and Chinese, so he can defend against all the kung-fu students.
I’m looking forward to seeing Jackie Chan in action again. He was the voice of the monkey in Disney’s Kung Fu Panda (2008) and starred in Rush Hour 3 (2007).
I’m also impressed by Jaden Smith, the 11 year-old son of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, who has more than demonstrated his strength in acting with his performances in The Pursuit of Happyness and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong to Chinese parents and has an interesting background. It’s best told on his website bio found here.
