Amerie Mi Marie Rogers is a two-time Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and actress, born January 12, 1980 in Fitchburg, Mass to a Korean mother and Africa-American father. She debuted her first album, All I Have, in 2002. [1, 2]
Check out her song Gotta Work in the video below. PERFECT for a workout playlist. Really gets ya goin.
Baby look at me And tell me what you see You ain’t seen the best of me yet Give me time I’ll make you forget the rest….
I can catch the moon in my hand Don’t you know who I am Remember my name
Fame! I’m gonna live forever I’m gonna learn how to fly High!
I’m gonna make it to heaven light up the sky like a flame Fame!
Rememba Rememba Rememba
Remember?!?!?
Fame may be a remake of the old story, but with 25 year-old dance prodigy and famed choreographer to Madonna and Britney Spears, Kevin Tancharoen, directing, Debbie Allen, Bebe Neuwirth, Megan Mullally, and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle in the ensemble…we may have a new cast of contending talent to be excited about. Check out the trailer on you tube.
PS - Researching Kevin’s ethnic background, I found that he is the brother of one ‘Maurissa Tancharoen’…yeah and? Who the heck is ‘Maurissa’? (her name was literally in quotes…do single quote marks mean the referenced is also famed?)
Turns out ‘Maurissa’ is Maurissa Tancharoen Whedon, contributing writer to Dollhouse and sister-in-law of its genius writer, producer, director, Joss Whedon, also of Firefly and Serenity magnificence. Maurissa identifies Tancharoen as having Thai roots. Rock on, Maurissa and Joss, for writing such intriguing and thought-provoking female roles…not to mention casting beauteous, talented actors to portray them.
is a damn FUNNY woman. She currently stars asKelly Kapoor on the Emmy-award winning, Ricky Gervais executive-produced, NBC hit show, The Office, which also stars Steve Carrell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer among a cast of hilarious and talented comedians. Kaling also co-executive produces and writes many of the show’s episodes. [More 2009 Emmy pics of Mindy Kaling here]
Vera Mindy Chokalingam was born June 24, 1979 in Cambridge, Mass to TamilHindu parents from India. She attended a private high-school and subsequently graduated from Dartmouth College in 2001.
In May 2009, NBC signed a 7-figure contract with Kaling to develop and star in a new comedy while continuing to write, produce and star in The Office. This is only 5 years after first being hired to write for the show.
Named one of the Top 10 Funniest Actresses in Hollywood by Entertainment Weekly in April 2009, Kaling’s success trajectory is not only enviable, but also, and more importantly, at least as I see it, encouraging. Female, Minority, 7 figure deal with a major network, string of successful movies, and starring and producing hit prime time tv shows all by the age of 30. PHENOMENAL! ROCK IT KALING…
More interesting stories about how Kaling first got her break to star in The Office and how her character was developed here. A list of her works can be seen on her IMDB file. She also has a blog where she posts photos and talks about things she buys that she likes…aptly named “things i bought that i like”.
The new season of The Office premiered on NBC, Thursday, September 17th, 9pm

Allan Pineda Lindo, (born 28 November 1974) better known as apl.de.ap, is a Filipino American hip hop musician, record producer, and member of the Black Eyed Peas.
He was born in the Barangay (Barrio) of Sapang Bato, Angeles City, Pampanga, in the Philippines, to a Filipino mother and African American father. His father, a U.S. airman stationed at Clark Air Base, abandoned the family shortly after his birth; his mother Cristina Pineda raised Apl and his six younger siblings as a single mother. Two of his siblings are deceased: his younger brother Arnel committed suicide[1]; his youngest brother, Joven Pineda Deala, was murdered at the age of 21 in February 2009 in Porac, Pampanga.[2]
Apl has brought his Filipino culture into his collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas. He explains his life story in a song called “The Apl Song” on the Peas’ 2003 album Elephunk, which includes a full chorus in Tagalog sampled from the Asin song “Balita.” The accompanying video, which includes cameos by fellow Filipino-Americans Dante Basco and Chad Hugo, is also a tribute to the Filipinos who fought for the U.S. in World War II; the song reached number one in the Philippines.
